Fun Hike!

Posted on April 4, 2010

Well, the weather couldn’t be any nicer.   I thought it was time to set out and do some landscape photography.   It has been a long time since I tried to shoot anything that wasn’t breathing.  I decided to head out to Frozen head state park.   It had been several years since I had been there, and even so, I had only been there once.   I was going solo so I really didn’t have any idea what I would end up doing.   I stopped in the park service building, and asked what I thought was one of the nicest ladies I have ever met, where I should hike.   She gave my a ton of suggestions, and I headed up the main trail, that has two waterfalls.   I had a blast.  Ended up hiking almost 14 miles, and man were my legs tired!

I have a picture here, one of my favorites at some small fall beneath one of the larger ones.

The end of the road, but not really….

Well, I’ve just finished getting the music together and planning a few last minute details for our final DJ event.  It is a wedding today at The Tea Room in Norris.  This one should be pretty exciting because we put together a custom medley of music for their first dance.  It’s going to start with the normal slow dance type song and mix into several different dance songs!  Everything from Baby Got Back to Kung Fu Fighting.  It should be lots of fun!  They have props ready to go, and they have been rehearsing for 2 weeks!  We have been DJ’ing weddings now for over 9 years.  It has been a great business, and it has been a blast!  There is nothing like filling up the dance floor with the music your spinning!

But as one door closes, another one opens.  We will be focusing 100% on our photography. It is our new love, and we can’t wait to see where we can take this business!

Some quick Pictures

Posted on July 22, 2009

A friend of mine asked for some pictures, and who am I to ever say no?   I love snapping photos and working with various softwares to produce a final image.   My goal is always to spark some sort of reaction.   From “Wow, I look good”, to “I remember what a wonderful day that was!”.  Capturing moments in life is what makes this job great!

I can’t wait to find out where my camera takes me next!

A little walk with our new gear

Posted on March 11, 2009

Well, after waiting some time, we finally received the next biggest and baddest thing to come to Canon photography. The 5d Mark II. A full frame camera, boasting some of the best low light pictures any camera can take, and pair that with 1080p HD video! That’s right, high definition video! Of course along with all this, comes an empty wallet!

We are still putting it thru it’s paces, but did decide to go out and have a little fun with it. I was able to find an old steel train trestle. I got to say, I was walking up and down this thing, and it’s of course pretty long. I kept having to look over my shoulder to make sure there wasn’t a train coming. I kept trying to figure, “Okay, if I saw the train come around the corner, would that leave enough time to run off the bridge?” The last thing I wanted was to have to hide on the edge of it with an enormous train flying by. Luckily, That didn’t happen. Would have cetainly made for some great pictures though!

Vacation in the SNOW!

Posted on January 23, 2009

Gosh, we just returned from a great trip! Every year we travel to Snowshoe WV in hopes of timing it perfectly with alot of snow. Well we did it again! It snowed every day, and we had great conditions the entire time we were there. We staying in a condo called Leatherbark, brought most of our meals along, and just had a great time!
On several occasions, just outside our condo, several deer would gather. They were obviously quite used to people. We just couldn’t ignore the urge to feed them, (I know, don’t feed the wildlife, at least they weren’t bears!) so we tossed them a few apples. They loved them. We also tried to give them some lettuce, but they didn’t care for that. Go figure. In an environment where everything is covered with snow, they shunned our leafy green stuff.
Well, we are back in town again. We have a few upcoming DJ events, and some photography again a little later.
Thanks for reading!

Booms Day with a couple of pics!

Posted on September 3, 2008

Well Booms day came here in Knoxville. I was surprised to hear they are the largest Labor Day fireworks in the Nation! Well, we went early and found a perch that would give us some good shots. We had a blast, but man was it hot! Did I say Hot? I mean really Hot! Standing on a parking garage is no way to stay cool!
The fireworks started and we got some great shots!!

Labor Day marks the beginning of fall and cooler temperatures. We are really looking forward to this! No more sweating outside, and my wife telling me I stink! (I don’t really stink, I just look like I do)
We are currently offering free engagement photo sessions for anyone interested. Give us a call to schedule an appointment, or better yet, just write service@tandjphotography.net

I guess I’ll kick this thing off

Well, blogging seems to be the newest, and greatest thing ever. Since I’m beginning a new endeavor with photography, why not start this as well, almost like a journal. The only problem with journals, is I could only ever keep one going for about 2 days. Hope this one lasts longer.

I hope to track our progress, writing about some exeriences along the way. I’m sitting here thinking this is going to be boring for anyone reading, as My cat lays beside the screen, of course sleeping. Maybe I’ll wake him and see if I can get any good shots.
